FEO was delighted to receive an invitation to Wilberforce College’s annual Careers Fair on 11th February. We saw this as a perfect opportunity to meet students and teachers, let them know what FEO is all about, promote Entrepreneurship and shout about our involvement with Schools and Colleges across the region.
It was good to see a large number of representatives and informative trade stands from Universities and local businesses (including FEO Member, Alan Hemingway of Hemingway Bailey). Manning the FEO stand on the day was FEO manager Kerry Mountain along with Thomas Martin (Director of Arco) who also leads our Education Group.
Throughout the day we met a steady stream of keen students, several of whom really stood out and showed great entrepreneurial promise, sharing their ideas and ambitions to work hard and follow their dreams. It was fantastic to capture this enthusiasm and in some cases, suggest a perhaps different career path to the students by embracing their entrepreneurial flair and seeing where it takes them.
There was also a lot of interest in our Aspiring Work Placement Programme which gives budding entrepreneurs a work experience challenge like no other!
Towards the end of the day there was still a heavy flow of students, including a visit from local secondary School Malet Lambert. Questions and interest was still coming in strong, such as “How can we make a lot of money!” “Through lots and lots of hard work” came the answer from Thomas Martin!
They (and us) left the room buzzing with ideas, whilst still discussing how Students view themselves, their attitudes to work and their skill sets.
