Our FEO Education Group recently presented their Masterclass in business to 60 year 10 students at Hessle High School.
As a new venue for FEO, all were impressed by the facilities at the school and the warm welcome they received by staff and students.
It was an early start but 10 teams of 6 students were all ready and raring to go! This helped our host, Angela Oldroyd lead them into the day..
Jon Hilton started with his entrepreneurial talk “bullets to business” which held the audience’s attention for the full 15 minutes leaving some students wanting to talk more to Jon during the break.
Following on from this the class included further talks on Attitude, Marketing, Finance, Keeping the lights on and finishing with People.
After the presentations the students were eager to make notes and implement their learnings to their team business ideas, each using different methods such as brainstorming onto business plans, creating posters, logos and strap lines to enhance their businesses and give them a competitive edge.
Following a canteen school lunch everyone was ready to present to the judges which was made up of a panel of our FEO Members.
Although there were some nerves and apprehension there was lots of excitement and the atmosphere in the room was electric! All 10 teams presented their businesses which ranged from fashion apps to self-changing tyre treads to the winning team who came up with a portable fridge invention!
As winners the team of all girls was presented with FEO bags filled with goodies, T Shirts and vouchers from the School- all round a wonderful interactive day thoroughly enjoyed by all.
