A look back at 2017

2017 has been a year of great progress for Hull and East Yorkshire marked with much excitement and celebration around City of Culture. But more exciting is what’s going on – underneath the surface – perhaps not so visible but most important - more businesses have been started, more are growing and critically, are creating jobs.

Jobs mean prosperity for people and are vital to create the bigger sustainable local economy we all need.

It’s the economy stupid – that’s crucial to our future!

Everyone involved in For Entrepreneurs Only have played their part. We can be immensely proud of the time, experience, resources and facilities that have been given so generously. Our message has been promoted loudly, in local Schools and Colleges to our entrepreneurs of tomorrow, in Ignition to groups of people of all ages wanting to start new businesses now, and to those SME’s doing 360 and the more mature growth businesses targeting David Hall’s challenging Step Change programme. And what about our growing media presence through FEO TV and Social Media - Well done and good luck to all.

The Business Day at the Spa in June was a fantastically inspiring celebration, a coming together of everything that is unique about our local business sector. FEO enjoyed being an integral part of this through #FEOFest.

In November, the Hull Daily Mail Business Awards showcased so many of the exciting businesses we have in the region - large and small and the diversity of all the products and services we create and offer. Products and services, we are selling afar. Deservedly, FEO members once again won several awards. Congratulations to them.

Our region is rich in entrepreneurship, rich in talent and creativity – rich in the hard work of our people and rich in the resources of our location, technology and the property assets we have at hand.

2018 will present more opportunity to grow and build our region, to create more jobs and more prosperity towards that bigger sustainable economy, we all need.

A very big thank you to Jan, Kerry, to those who lead our sub-groups with such passion, to all our members, all our key partners and to fellow directors David Kilburn, David Hall, Paul Sewell and Jonathan Elvidge

Thank you to everyone involved in this wonderful organisation - Well done, enjoy Christmas and best wishes for 2018
